About us

Situated down by the water’s edge at Half Moon Bay Marina, East Auckland, we have created a modern, sophisticated salon offering beauty and day spa treatments.

Offering a wide range of beauty treatments such as massage, facials, manicures, pedicures, waxing, and spa treatments, we will help rest your mind, body, and soul so that by the time you leave you’ll be refreshed, invigorated, and ready to take on the world again.

We have two treatment rooms, one which has two treatment beds, so we can offer you the unique opportunity to share your pamper time with a loved one or friend.

KATHRYN GRIFFITHS
Beauty and Spa Therapist

My family and I moved to New Zealand in May 2009. After 14 years of working in a corporate environment, behind a computer, and on the phone, I decided that a total career change was in order. After all, we had changed everything else by moving to the other side of the world so why not change one more thing! I have always enjoyed working in a customer-facing environment and knew for some time that I would love to have a role as a Beauty Therapist but the opportunity in the UK never came up.

I started my training in New Zealand in February 2010 with Beauty, Spa, and Wellbeing and completed my course in November 2010. I was then given a great opportunity in June 2011 to start working at Gaia Day Spa. This was a fantastic opportunity for me so I jumped at the chance. A year later, I was able to buy the business. I have furthered my studies as a Beauty and Spa Therapist by taking extra qualifications in Therapeutic Massage and Microblading, and Gaia Day Spa is recognized by The New Zealand Association of Registered Beauty Professionals.

There is no aspect of Beauty and Spa Therapy that I don’t enjoy, I love the treatments that we offer, the products that we use, and the relationships that are formed with our clients. Our move to New Zealand was a great one and opened new doors for me that I would never have experienced in the UK.

ALLISSA SYMONDS
Beauty and Spa Therapist

Allissa is the newest member of the Gaia Day Spa team of qualified and passionate Beauty Therapists. Having grown up in Pukekohe, after training at Elite Beauty, Allissa has been working as a Beauty Therapist for two years.

Allissa was inspired to pursue beauty therapy by her mum, who wanted to be a Beauty Therapist but unfortunately didn’t have the opportunity – so when Allissa was looking into her career options, she investigated beauty therapy, and fell in love with the industry. Having grown up with what she calls “problem skin”, Allissa felt compelled to help others with their skin.

“People think that beauty therapy is just about glitz and glamour and girly stuff like hair and makeup, but it’s not about that at all,” explains Allissa. “It’s about helping people with concerns they might have about their skin, and putting them on to skincare products that will make a real difference, and improving their confidence in themselves.”

Allissa finds everything about beauty therapy to be very satisfying, particularly waxing, and says she likes being known as “The Waxing Lady”! “As well as waxing, I really like doing brows and lashes,” Allissa says. “But I love doing every beauty therapy treatment on the menu, and I’m excited to work with Germaine de Capuccini products, as they’re well respected and science-backed.”
